I'm tired of seeing manips using those limited resource
of Brandon Routh photos. So i decided to create my own artwork of
Brandon Routh as Superman.
I found this screencap of Brandon from TV show "Cold Case"
on BrandonRouth.com which
finally convinced me that maybe Bryan Singer was right about his
choice. But then there's one problem...
Technical/artwork notes :
...the screencap came in a very low-res quality, meaning that i
have to re-paint the whole face using the screencap as the base
in order to create a higher resolution artwork. That's what i did
and surprisingly the work was done without so much difficulty as
i expected before. It was finished in a couple of hours (thought
it was going to take forever).
The next step was to determine the pose. Again, Poser came as a
very resourceful tool. I created about 3-4 pose before decided which
one was the best.
I created the costume using CorelDraw to help making the mask selections
for necessary parts (suit, trunk, shield, boots, etc). Each part
then exported as EPS formats for later use in Photoshop.
In Photoshop, began the job of airbrushing, smudging, airbrushing,
and so on until it finished.
For the background, i finally decided to go with a minimalist approach.
The original artwork has Superman in a full body shot right to
the cape, but somehow the cropped version looks better for a poster.
I still keep the original one, perhaps for later use if i'm not
too lazy or busy. |
