That 50's Superman!

Done in Photoshop CS spanning within 5-6 days. Tools : Poser 5.0, CorelDraw 12 and PSCS.

This was originally intended as a Jim Caviezel's Superman artwork. He's my favorite actor and in my opinion, would make a great Superman. Halfway through i decided to change it into a Routh's Superman artwork because i found the particular headshot more suitable. If you notice, Routh's headshot here is similar to the previous Superman artwork i made, this time with a lot of improvements and modifications. It was originally based on this screencap taken from one episode of the "Cold Case" TV series. I hope the result does look like Routh, or at least resembles him.

I read that Singer is going for a retro-look for the Superman Returns movie. That's what i'm trying to achieve with the sephia or brownish tone.

I guess the cape flown in a not realistic fashion. I'm aware of that, but i dumped "realistic" for the sake of artistic. This "butterfly" style gives some regal nuance.

The "Metropolis" in the background was created using collages of New York. The perspective seems a bit off, i wish i could spend more time on it, but i'm too exhausted and lazy for that. Everything else were added to achieve an "official" poster feel.

Oh, and here are some captions to get a closer view of the details. That 464 x 746 resolution artwork above doesn't show much. Here they go!

The depth of the costume's textures were achieved with "Spherize" effect in Photoshop, so they won't just ended up looking flat. I also spent amount of time to get some details for the boots.
