Gundala was once Indonesia's most popular comic superhero back in the 60's until early 80's. Created by Hasmi with heavy influences of DC's The Flash, it became one of the most well-known superhero character, along with others like Godam, Labah-Labah Merah, and many more. I think i still have a box full of these old comics in my aunt's home. Nowadays, these things have becoming "collector's stuffs" because they are hard to find.

There's even a movie being made in the 80's, titled "Gundala Putera Petir" (look it up on the internet, you'll find it). In the awakening of Indonesia's cinema recently, i would like to see a decent remake based on this character or any other as well.

I have been looking to create an artwork based on this character for a long time, but the Superman's hype has been getting into me a lot lately. Being a lazy bastard, it was quite an achievement for me to managed to complete it within 2-3 days.

In the original design, the character wears a red trunk similar to Superman's. I ditched it and think that the 'no trunk' version would work.

Update : I'm thinking of coming up later with a suitable background, maybe something with the street and cars light, distorted into lines, to emphasize the "running" effect.
