Super Argo! Does the name rings your bell? ......
Nope? Can't blame you because this movie character (yes, there's
a movie based on this character!) existed more than 2 or 3 decades
ago. I was around 5 or 6 years old when i saw it on the cinema and
got me haunted forever with his silly bright yellow costume and
stupid grin. Curious about him? Google "Super Argo" and
find out yourself.
Technical/artwork notes :
Based on body figure generated using Poser. Here's the breakdown...
Body : I used 'Dust and Scratches' effect to soften the body surface
so i looks more like cloth instead of yellow-painted naked body.
The right leg and boot was created last and somehow i'm not satisfied
with the result, it look a bit flat, i don't know.
Mask/Head : The visor, spiral were created using CorelDraw, exported
as EPS and used as mask selection in Photoshop. The 3D looks on
visor and spiral were achieved using 'Bevel and Emboss' effect which
i usually hate but surprisingly it worked here.
Cape : Again, imported as EPS from CorelDraw, opened as mask selections
and lots of airbrushing job.
Gloves : I tried to achieve realistic looks by creating seams on
certain parts, i hope it works.
Belt and Buckle : Same treatment with The Cape.
Background : I gave some 'spiral'-ing effect to emphasize the hypnotic
ability of the character (if the memory serves, that's one of his
ability...)... thus the spiral on his forehead.
Others : I added 'Pointillize' and 'Noise' effects on most parts
of the costume, trying to achieve 'velvet' look, not sure if it
works. |
